In recent years an industry has grown parallelly with online technology, treatment and others; that is the tourism industry. With the growth of modern days people are becoming more conscious about self-love and mental health. Specifically after the Covid 19 breakdown when most of the countries of the world got locked down the need and importance of tour and recreation has alarmed us. Though tour and travel was established in the first age of humankind, it was mainly for the survival of human life. Tour or Travel of getting pleasure or relaxation such thoughts weren’t existing then. As science and education grew people discovered this another big deal of life.
Today we are going to talk about why we should study Tourism and Hospitality Management also known as THM and the ratio of this industry as a basic sum up. Firstly I would like to take you through the bookish definitions of THM.
Tourism: Tour is a kind of travel or trip. And the full system of making a tour happen is tourism.
Hospitality: Hospitality is the art or way of behaviour to treat a guest.
Management: I guess management can be replaced by adjusting. The method we try to adjust or handle a situation or incident or an organisation is called management.
So, Tourism & Hospitality Management means the process by which a tour and stranger impressive behaviour is managed, also the basics of managerial operational.

Now we will try to get the, "WHY" of studying Tourism & Hospitality Management
1. Tourism is the backbone of many other industries:
We know about archeology, business and geography. But maybe we haven’t noticed that these three parts of study come from the same root and that is tourism! I know it will make you wonder. If we try to go a bit deep then we will find archeology, business and geography three of these are discovered by tour.
During a tour when someone finds something abnormal or structurally fishy then they try to research it and call it archeology.
In 1492 Italian explorer Christopher Columbus discovered America. Land or water navigation is a part of geography but the process of this exploration is to give a tour at a random destination!
Tour is a very effective way to get business ideas. The Readymade Garments or RMG market of Bangladesh is the most preferred RMG market of the world because of its quality and low labour cost. The point,'low labour cost' was discovered by giving a tour in Bangladesh. The tea of Morocco is considered as one of the best teas in the world and it has a high market value. This quality of Moroccan tea was also discovered by tour and now it's a worldwide business.
2. THM Industry Gives A Plenty of Opportunities
Discover and Research: If you study tourism and hospitality management you will get huge connections as this industry is global. Each of the tourism destinations has its own history and importance. So you can work on research and refined databases. When you work in tourism you will get opportunities to visit many places as a plus point, this can help you discover new and interesting things. Such as folk culture, language, enthic community, historical place or archeological finds.
Meeting New People: If I ask about your summer vacation plan most probably you will talk about your plan to tour at anyplace. It is very common that if we get a long vacation we prefer taking a tour. This tour can be a domestic tour to an international tour. These tours help us to meet people from different countries, languages, communities and more.
Tour And Travel: There is no one who doesn’t like to take a tour. And what if it’s a segment of your study or job? Like you will have to visit places and travel destinations for your academics or even for your job. This is a two in one opportunity that will give you recreation, experience and earning!
Fun In Work: There are only a few working fields that are not scheduled boring 9 to 5. Tourism and Hospitality industry is one of them.This is an industry where you can play, sing, chill, travel, experience new things, meet new people, try new dishes and what not! This industry is full of entertainment and relaxation both for the customers and the employees.
3. Job Fields in Tourism & Hospitality
Hotels and Motels: Accommodation service is a large business sector worldwide and the main wheel of it is tourism. From the front office to the highest management of the best quality hotels and motels need a THM graduate as he/she has got specifically trained to manage the hotel or motel business.
Travel Agencies: When it comes to taking a tour, travel agencies are our best helping hand due to our busy life. All the travel agencies need people from THM background to serve their customers properly.
Food and Beverage: Besides hotel and motel high quality restaurants and quality food production companies need you to manage and grow their business as the food and beverage business is very much consumed by travelers and even guests.
Travel Consultant: You can become a travel consultant or work as a travel and trip expert, guide, manager, etc at travel consultancies.
Academician and Researcher Teaching is a novel profession worldwide and researcher is the most valuable person in the world because they research and make us know about our unknown. After studying tourism and hospitality management one will achieve a business degree then he can become a teacher of tourism or business.
Tour Corporation & Ministry: There are tourism ministries and many tourism corporations that work on a country's or an area's tourism development and maintenance.
Corporation Sector: Bachelor in Tourism and Hospitality Management is a business degree. In some universities it is under BBA or in some BBS but eventually it's a business degree. So if you have interest in corporate jobs you can grow your career in this field.

4. The Ratio of Tourism
Tourism is not bounded only between leisure travelling and visiting the ratio of tourism is now vastly bigger. Tourism is divided among business, treatment, education, research, pleasure, sport, historic, natural, artificial establishment and so on.
In the beginning we talked about self-love. Maybe many of us are introduced with the word 'me-time'. These phrases are very related to our mental health. Once there was a time when people didn’t care about it. But now people are very conscious of mental wellbeing. For overcoming anxiety, depression, trauma travelling or changing the current city has been found as effective treatment.
To get higher education, better health treatment, better job or better payment going abroad is a very old type of tourism.
Religion is the softest corner of our heart and believers are so conscious about it. For visiting holy places or achieving much blessings from God, going to different places, countries or locations are a regular kind of tourism.
5. Future Of This Industry
Do you know there are huge unexplored steps in the world yet? Even the largest forest Amazon isn't fully explored! How will those unseen and unknown will come in front of us? No doubt, those will get explored by tourism.
Tours and travles are becoming more likely everyday. Many countries are earning a big percent of their GDP from the tourism sector. Counties like France, US, China, Spain are some of them. In the past year 2021 this sector has been grown 4% globally. Pointing this growth many other countries are focusing on tourism development. Before just a decade tourism study was not this popular when today specialised in tourism bachelor, master and PhD degrees are provided.
With the growth of education and human awareness about self-care the tourism and recreation industry is growing faster. Once tourism was considered as a luxury activity, now tourism becoming easier and more normalised. So we can be clear that this industry will continue to grow. And people who are working in this industry will become a part of this revolutionary change.

What are the topics studied and skilled in Tourism and Hospitality Management Course?
Tourism and Hospitality Management is a specialized department of Business Studies/Administration so like all other students of business; students who study bachelor or masters in Tourism & Hospitality Management they also study and learn the core courses of business such as accounting, finance, management, marketing, statistics and ICT. Then comes their optional subjects which are about tourism and hospitality industry such as food safety, health and hygiene, tourism importance, impressive and formal behaviour, airport management, tour and travel management, guest hospitality and professional hospitality, cuisine management and more optional related to the tourism industry.
Accounting: Accounting is the oldest subject of business studies. Each and every student of business has to learn and study accounting. From a general transaction to a company's yearly financial statements.
Finance: Primarily business is all about money. So the time value of money, interest rate over investment, calculating most preferable investment, bond/debenture valuation, stock market and many more things are detailed studied in this course.
Management: The most important factor of an organization is its management. If the management is not appropriate then the organisation will never reach its goal. And that's why when the students choose 'Tourism and Hospitality Management' to study they already select management in the course title. So you can understand how sincerely management theory and skills are studied here.
Marketing: There is a saying "promotion is expansion" Marketing is the face of business nowadays. All businesses have to do enough marketing to attract consumers and let people know about it. There are now two types of marketing, (i) Traditional Marketing and (ii) Digital Marketing. Students are trained and educated about marketing in Tourism & Hospitality Management studies.
Statistics: Ratio, percent, graph, chart and equations through evidence and documentation are the base of this course.
ICT: This generation is totally an Information and Communication Technology based generation so basics of ICT and advanced use of computers related to the business tourism sector are learnt in this course.
Food Safety: Tourism and hospitality is more related to food. So a professional in this field must know about food safety, food law, food quality and quantity and food preservation technology.
Health and Hygiene: Tour destinations have to maintain a healthy and hygienic environment. How to maintain the health and hygiene is all discussed in this part.
Tourism Importance: When you are a bachelor of a specific topic then you must have deep knowledge and important logics of that topic. That's why from introduction to the tourism and hospitality industry to the international tourism sectors all are read here.
Behavior and Hospitality: Name of the subject mentions the word,"Hospitality" so it can make you clear that how importantly and attentively manner and behaviour are tough in this portion.
